PART 3 Learning Objectives

  • Summarize elements of meaningful feedback in eLearning environments

  • Identify the core criteria of giving effective feedback

This course, in addition to the prerequisite, has taught me more than I expected when I signed up for the courses.  I taught an online class a few semesters ago; however, it was originally scheduled as a face-to-face course but somehow turned into online.  I had a basic understanding of Blackboard but stressed isn’t a strong enough word to describe my experience. What I learned most from that experience, though, came from two emails from students at the end of the semester.  Both sent me an email thanking me for my feedback to them during the course.  One said she usually didn’t get much feedback on her writings for online courses, and she appreciated the many comments I made on her papers.  Her email made the countless hours of commenting worth it, but it also showed me how much I wanted my online students to have the same awesome experience my face-to-face students have in my classroom.  And the most important lesson I’ve learned in this course is my goal of equality is attainable. This course gave me the motivation, ideas, notes, examples, information, and demonstrations I needed to gain my confidence to teach another online course.
